Fire engulfs house near Kolinportti service station in North Karelia

A house is ablaze near the Kolinportti service station on Joensuuntie. Emergency services from the North Karelia rescue department are on-site, working to extinguish the fire at the property located right by the road. On-site fire chief Lauri Hirvonen estimates that the structure will be completely destroyed by the fire. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries; however, two cats belonging to the residents have reportedly been trapped inside the burning building.

Both rescue and emergency medical services are present at the scene. The lane on Joensuuntie leading towards Kajaani has been closed to traffic, with emergency services directing vehicles accordingly. A reporter from Yle, Siru Päivinen, mentions that the homeowners were in their backyard raking leaves when a passerby alerted them to the smoke coming from their house. The emergency response center received reports of the fire shortly before noon on Tuesday.
