A surge in demand coupled with limited supply has led to significant increases in fish prices in recent weeks.

Both Høgni Hansen, the director of the Fish Market, and Jógvan Hansen, chairman of the Fresh Fish Buyers Association, agree on this trend.

Høgni Hansen reports that the price of cod has fluctuated between 40 and 44 kroner per kilogram recently, with prices for other fish species also remaining high.

Recently, a Norwegian company named Norwegian Seafood Company has started offering fish in the Faroe Islands under the brand Faroese Seafood Company. The chairman of the Fresh Fish Buyers Association has welcomed the competition.
