Calmer weather expected in Iceland as low-pressure system moves north
Calmer Weather Expected Today
The low-pressure system that has dominated the weather in Iceland has moved far north, resulting in noticeably calmer weather conditions today. However, a new low-pressure system is expected to approach from the southwest tomorrow.
As of midday today, October 27, 2024, the weather will be significantly calmer than in recent days, with mild and variable winds in many areas and partly cloudy skies. There may be occasional snow showers in the southeast and east regions. Winds will remain somewhat stronger in the eastern part of the country through the morning, and light frost will prevail today. This evening, frost is expected to intensify in the remote areas of the north and east.
Tomorrow, a new low-pressure system will approach from the southwest, bringing south winds of 8-15 m/s accompanied by rain or sleet, while the northeast will remain mostly dry throughout the day. Temperatures will rise to between 2 and 9 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. By evening, winds will shift to the southwest, increasing somewhat, while the northwestern areas will see a reduction in wind but a drop in temperature, potentially leading to snowfall.
