Four children hospitalized due to E.coli outbreak at Mánagarður preschool in Reykjavík
Four children from the Mánagarður preschool in Reykjavík are currently hospitalized due to an E.coli outbreak. Two of these children are in intensive care. There are concerns that an additional eleven children may also be infected, adding to the 27 already identified.
The outbreak has caused widespread illness among children at the Mánagarður preschool. Recently, four children were admitted to the Landspitali University Hospital due to E.coli infection, with two receiving intensive care. The situation escalated as two additional children were hospitalized today after two others were discharged this morning.
In response to the outbreak, two departments at the Óskalandi preschool in Hveragerði were closed after it was reported that a child there tested positive for E.coli. This child had previously attended Mánagarður but had just started adapting to Óskalandi on Monday.
As health authorities monitor the situation, further investigations and safety measures are being implemented to prevent the spread of the infection.
