Cloudy weekend forecasted for southern and central Finland, rain likely across the country
The weekend is expected to be mostly cloudy, particularly in southern and central Finland, according to meteorologist Aleksi Lohtander. Rain is also forecasted for the weekend.
Today, Friday, heavy cloud cover dominates the skies. While the sun may peek through on the southwest and southern coasts, the sunniest conditions are found in western and northern Lapland. Fog stretches from North Karelia to southern Lapland. Temperatures in the south exceed ten degrees Celsius, with Lapland also experiencing mild weather, around 6-8 degrees. These temperatures are considered high for this time of year, notes the meteorologist.
On Saturday, southern and eastern Finland will see overcast skies. However, sunshine will persist in Lapland, which will experience a drop in temperatures to 2-5 degrees. In the south and central regions, temperatures will range from 7-11 degrees, with Saturday expected to be a calm day due to high pressure.
Sunday will bring more clouds and afternoon fog, particularly in Lapland. In the evening, a rain system is set to arrive, sweeping across the entire country. Rain is likely to continue into Monday.
Next week is predicted to bring a significant change in weather patterns, with temperatures expected to decline. The week could also turn out to be quite unstable due to the positioning of strong jet streams, potentially leading to stormy conditions as low pressure systems deepen.
