Police investigate dog shooting incident in Upinniemi military area, Kirkkonummi

Police are investigating an incident in which a dog that was roaming free in the Upinniemi military area bit a military police officer. In an effort to stop the situation, the military police officer shot the dog dead with his service weapon. The dog’s owner was on the military grounds without permission.

The event occurred on Wednesday in Upinniemi, Kirkkonummi. Two military police officers noticed unusual activity in the area and went to investigate. One of the military police officers was approached by a dog that seized hold of his sleeve. Although the officer managed to free himself from the dog’s grip, it continued to advance towards him. At that point, the officer shot the dog, which died at the scene.

The West Uusimaa Police have not disclosed the breed of the dog involved. They are currently investigating the case for leaving the animal unattended as well as for violations of public peace.
