A yellow weather warning will be in effect starting Friday morning for the Southwest region and the highlands of Iceland. Authorities are cautioning about strong winds, particularly for those planning to travel outside the capital city, and urge close monitoring of weather forecasts and road conditions.

The warning for the South will take effect at 6:00 AM. Southeast winds of 13 to 20 meters per second are expected, with gusts potentially reaching up to 30 meters per second. Snow is likely on Hellisheiði, which could worsen road conditions.

In Faxaflói, a weather warning will begin at 7:00 AM, indicating southeast winds of 15 to 23 meters per second. The strongest winds are anticipated at Kjalarnes and Hafnarfjall, where gusts could reach 30 to 35 meters per second. Drivers are advised to exercise caution, particularly those in vehicles that are vulnerable to strong winds.

These warnings are expected to expire after midday on Friday.
