The police investigation into the school shooting at Viertola School, which occurred in April, has concluded, revealing new information about the case. It was discovered that the suspect took a selfie with the weapon and loaded it before entering the classroom. During interrogations, the suspect expressed intentions to shoot multiple individuals whom he labeled as bullies and named in a list he had created.

The list included 15 names, identified by the suspect as those who had bullied him. The police, however, found no evidence that the selected victims had harassed or discriminated against him. The lead investigator, Marko Särkkä, responded to questions regarding the shooting incident and its implications.

The investigation revealed that four shots were fired within the classroom, injuring three students. The events unfolded over approximately one and a half minutes before a teacher from an adjacent class intervened, managing to remove the suspect by speaking with him.

The teacher exposed himself to significant danger, as the suspect had pointed a gun at him. When the suspect exited the classroom, he walked away from the school area without a clear destination and was later apprehended by police in Siltamäki, Helsinki. Notably, during his escape, there were no indications that he threatened anyone else.

The suspect is facing charges of murder and attempted murder, having allegedly planned the attack for two to four weeks. Though he has shown remorse and regret for his actions during the investigation, as a minor, he cannot be held criminally responsible, although he may still face civil compensation claims from the victims and their families.
