Leos Hoplop to close five play centers in Finland affecting around 70 employees
The adventure park company Leos Hoplop is set to close five of its play centers, leading to the termination of approximately 70 employee contracts. In a recent announcement, the company specified which parks would close in the coming weeks: Leos Turku, HopLop Vantaanportti, HopLop Lohja, HopLop Tampere Linnainmaa, and HopLop Pirkkala.
The restructuring negotiations, which began on October 7, initially suggested that 22 parks could face closure, but this number has since been reduced to around 10. The company indicated that the outcome of the negotiations will affect a maximum of 211 employment contracts. Support and understanding from the parks’ landlords have significantly contributed to a more favorable outcome than anticipated.
These negotiations involved all of the company’s staff in Finland. According to Leos Hoplop, the main goal of the restructuring discussions was to ensure the company’s profitability and operational sustainability in light of changing market conditions. The company has been heavily impacted by high inflation, which has increased rental costs and reduced profit margins.
In early September, Leos Hoplop announced its intention to undergo corporate restructuring. The aim of this process is to secure the company’s long-term development by reorganizing operations, enhancing strategies, and addressing overcapacity in the park network.
Leos Hoplop’s CEO, Joakim Gunler, expressed optimism about the future, stating, “We are hopeful regarding what lies ahead.” Leos Hoplop is part of the international indoor play park chain Leos Lekland, which operates parks in Finland, as well as in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Germany.
