Wille Rydman, the Minister of Economic Affairs, has been nominated as the mayoral candidate for Helsinki by the Helsinki branch of the Finns Party. In a statement, Rydman outlined his goals, which include revitalizing Helsinki’s livability and attractiveness, enhancing accessibility in the city center, promoting more spacious construction, and making Helsinki an appealing destination for education.

The new mayor of Helsinki will be elected during the municipal elections scheduled for next spring. Traditionally, the mayoral position in Helsinki is awarded to the largest party in the newly elected city council.

Rydman will face competition from prominent candidates, including the current Deputy Mayor from the largest party in Helsinki, the National Coalition Party’s Daniel Sazonov, and Eveliina Heinäluoma, a member of parliament from the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
