Five lion cubs thrive after arrival at Copenhagen Zoo

The five lion cubs, which arrived unexpectedly on September 28 and 29, are thriving at the Copenhagen Zoo. According to a recent announcement, the cubs are now three weeks old and have undergone their first health check. This timing is crucial as the cubs remain small enough to be safely handled by veterinarians and caregivers, and they have not yet developed teeth, which simplifies the process.

During the health check, the gender of the cubs was determined, revealing that the litter consists of three males and two females. Each cub has received a microchip for identification purposes.

The senior veterinarian at the zoo noted that the cubs are doing exceptionally well. He mentioned that it is a large litter for an older female lion, but all five cubs are well-nourished and in good condition.

Visitors to the zoo can look forward to glimpsing the cubs starting in early November, as they are scheduled to be introduced into the lion exhibit at that time.
