Authorities in the Faroe Islands report a significant increase in drug trafficking into the country over the past two years. Recent drug seizures conducted by police and customs officials last week have led to 2023’s totals surpassing those of the previous two years combined.
So far this year, law enforcement has confiscated 18 kilograms of hashish and 700 grams of MDMA, with a sailing vessel once again involved in the operation.
In a recent interview on Degi og viku, Deputy Police Inspector Heri Andreassen discussed the ongoing challenges of handling the drug influx and the efforts being made to combat it.
This increase in drug-related incidents prompts local authorities to enhance their vigilance and law enforcement strategies to address the escalating problem.
