Salvation Army celebrates 100th anniversary in Faroe Islands with festive events
The Salvation Army in the Faroe Islands celebrates its 100th anniversary tomorrow.
The organization began its operations in the Faroe Islands on October 23, 1924. In recognition of this milestone, the Salvation Army will host a series of festive events throughout the week.
On the actual anniversary, the Salvation Army will be present in the pedestrian street in Tórshavn from 1 PM to 4 PM. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in conversation, enjoy freshly baked waffles and coffee, and listen to brass music.
As part of the centennial celebrations, a new hymnbook will be released. This book includes 660 songs with Faroese lyrics, sheet music, and chords. The hymnbook will be officially presented on Friday, according to the Salvation Army.
