The board of Ríkisútvarpið (Icelandic National Broadcasting Service) has reappointed Stefán Eiríksson as the director of broadcasting for another five years. Eiríksson first assumed the role in March 2020, meaning his initial five-year term would have concluded next year. According to regulations, the broadcasting director is appointed for a five-year term and can be reappointed for one additional five-year term. The RÚV board decided last week to reappoint Eiríksson under this provision. Although he indicated last year that he intended to step down at the end of his original term, he will now continue in his position for an extended period.
