Althing session remains undecided following Prime Minister Benediktsson’s dissolution announcement in Iceland

No decision has yet been made regarding the scheduling of the next session of the Althing, Iceland’s parliament. The last regular parliamentary session took place on October 10, just a few days before Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson announced his intention to request the dissolution of parliament and set a date for elections. Since then, only one parliamentary session has occurred, which took place on Thursday and lasted a little over half an hour. The sole agenda item for that meeting was the Prime Minister’s announcement concerning the dissolution of parliament and the forthcoming elections.
