Collision in Äänekoski likely avoided fatalities thanks to professional driver actions

A Saturday night collision in Äänekoski was likely avoided from resulting in fatalities thanks to the actions of the professional driver, according to a statement from the Central Finland Police. Four individuals sustained minor injuries when a passenger car turned from a side road onto a main road, colliding with the front of a tanker truck.

Police are now suspecting that the driver of the passenger vehicle failed to yield and was driving at excessive speed, which led to a loss of control. The tanker truck driver reportedly noticed the oncoming passenger car, slowed down, and attempted to steer the vehicle toward the right side of the road to evade the collision.

The authorities are treating the incident as a serious traffic safety violation. The driver of the passenger car has been temporarily banned from driving as the investigation continues.
