Court begins proceedings in sexual offenses case against man in Faroe Islands

The Faroe Islands’ court has commenced proceedings in a case involving a 58-year-old man accused of committing sexual offenses against 12 women while providing treatments at his clinics in Tórshavn and Klaksvík.
According to the indictment, the alleged offenses took place between 2018 and 2021.
The case is being handled by lay judges, who are ordinary citizens without legal training, and is being considered due to the severity of the charges, as they involve potential prison sentences of six months or more.
The accused denies the allegations.
The proceedings are scheduled to last for five days.
