Low-pressure system influencing weather across Western Iceland
A strong 981 mb low-pressure system is currently settled over Western Iceland, significantly influencing today’s weather. Its position is generating southern winds across the region, while in Breiðafjörður and the West Fjords, the winds are relatively light and variable. Precipitation is expected to manifest as widespread rain or drizzle; however, the northeastern part of the country will experience clear and dry conditions.
By this afternoon, a weather front is anticipated to approach from the southeast, bringing northeastern winds and rain, while the western areas will see a decrease in precipitation at the same time. Looking ahead to tomorrow, the forecast indicates northwestern winds accompanied by showers. As the day progresses, the rain is projected to transition into snow in the northern regions.
