Lindvik and Kvandal triumph at Midtstubakken ski jumping event in Oslo
Amidst heavy fog in Midtstubakken, Oslo, ski jumpers took to the air on Saturday afternoon. Marius Lindvik led the men’s category, while Maren Kvandal secured a commanding win in the women’s competition.
Lindvik achieved jumps of 106 and 108 meters, earning a total of 262.3 points, finishing ahead of Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal (104 and 105 meters) and Benjamin Østvold (103.5 and 102.5 meters). Lindvik’s lead over silver medalist Sundal was 12.3 points.
In the women’s event, Kvandal soared to 94 and 99.5 meters, collecting a total of 287.6 points—33.7 points ahead of silver medalist Anna Odine Strøm, who managed jumps of 93.5 and 92.5 meters. Strøm had missed the latter half of last season due to a knee injury.
“I wasn’t completely satisfied with my first jump, but the second was much better. I’m really happy,” Kvandal remarked. She has set her sights on winning gold at the World Championships in Trondheim this winter, stating, “The goal for the winter is clear; I want to take the world championship gold in Trondheim.”
Silje Opseth from Geilo, representing Idrettslaget Holeværingen, took third place with jumps of 92.5 and 87 meters. Earlier this year, she broke the women’s world record with a jump of 230.5 meters in Vikersund.
The World Cup season is slated to begin in Lillehammer on November 23, with the highlight of the upcoming year being the World Championships in Trondheim in March. In the mixed team competition at the Norwegian Championships, Buskerud claimed victory over Akershus and bronze medalist Oslo.
