Five individuals were detained on Thursday after a customs inspection revealed they were attempting to launder 1.3 million kroner, along with possessing approximately 18 kilos of hashish and 700 grams of MDMA. The arrests occurred as the group was traveling to Denmark aboard the ferry Norrøna, according to prosecutor Katrin Thorsvig.

The customs authorities discovered the cash hidden in the men’s vehicle during the inspection. Following the seizure, the accused have been remanded in custody for a period of four weeks while investigations continue into their activities and connections.

This significant drug bust underscores ongoing efforts by customs and law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and money laundering in the region. The authorities are currently working to trace the source and intended destination of the substances involved, as well as any potential networks linked to the suspects.

Further details regarding the case are expected to emerge as the investigation unfolds. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking.
