Power outage affects Borgarfjörður as repairs continue in Hvanneyri and Þverárhlíð

There is currently a widespread power outage in Borgarfjörður, caused by two separate failures. A cable detached near Hvanneyri, resulting in a disruption leading to Borgarnes, while another outage is reported at Varmaland, specifically up to Högnastöðum, with the cause still unknown.

Work crews are en route to assess and resolve the situation. In the meantime, the power system’s operations will be adjusted to restore electricity to Borgarnes and most other users in the area. However, Hvanneyri will remain without power for a longer period, as will Þverárhlíð. It is estimated that repairs at Hvanneyri could take around four hours.
