Christian Andreasen, the chairman of J&K Petersen, announced today that the company and Tórshavnar Municipality have agreed to consult on the renovation of the long pool in Gundadalur. Both parties signed a delivery document earlier in the day.

However, they remain at odds over the municipality’s payment for the renovation work. J&K Petersen has put forth an additional claim of 6.5 million Danish krone due to unusual price increases, alongside other demands.

Andreasen, a member of the People’s Party in the Faroese Parliament, emphasized that it is standard practice for a project to be handed over before the final construction settlement is made. The dispute could end in either an agreement or legal proceedings.

In the coming weeks, the municipality will prepare the new area and pool for use. The long pool is being built within the current swimming hall and will feature ten lanes of 50 meters, over 600 spectator seats, as well as a wellness area with hot tubs, a jet bath, a sauna, steam room, and additional amenities.

The facility is expected to open during week 45, which is the week prior to the municipal elections. Further information will be provided by Tórshavnar Municipality shortly.
