One in four men employed in public sector in Faroe Islands

In the Faroe Islands, only one in four men is employed in the public sector, while nearly 40% of women work in the private sector. This information comes from new data released by the Statistics Office.
In September, around 16,800 individuals, accounting for 56.6%, were employed by private enterprises. The remaining 43.4%—approximately 12,800 workers—were employed in public positions, which include government agencies and public companies.
The total number of employees in the Faroe Islands reached 29,584 in September, marking an increase of 231 compared to the same month last year. This represents a growth rate of 0.8%.
