In 2024, the Nordic Nano Group (NNG) will begin production in Imatra, Finland. The company specializes in non-toxic battery cells and solar energy-collecting coatings, which can be applied to roofs, walls, and windows.

NNG aims to produce globally utilizing quantum and nanocarbon technologies. According to CEO Esa Parjanen, the company leverages Finnish surface and material research, offering competitive pricing. “Changes in EU regulations, the increasing importance of supply security, and self-sufficiency have provided us with a significant market advantage,” Parjanen believes.

The production at NNG’s facility in Imatra is set to commence next year, with mass production projected for winter 2026. The plant is located in a property in Teppanala approved for development by the city of Imatra in August. The site, previously occupied by the Lapland market, offers approximately 3,800 square meters of space. The company states that its initial production has already been sold in advance, and it is currently engaged in development projects with clients and research partners.

While preparing for production launch and recruitment, NNG anticipates creating hundreds of jobs in the coming years. Matias Hilden, the city manager of Imatra, expressed his enthusiasm for NNG’s arrival, highlighting the city’s rich industrial and electrification history. Hilden noted that skilled labor and significant training opportunities in the region will remain key advantages as businesses consider their locations.

Further updates will follow.
