The Western Finland Coast Guard has issued a warning regarding drifting birch logs near the coastlines of Rauma and Eurajoki. According to a Facebook update from the Coast Guard, approximately 500 cubic meters of birch logs fell from a barge into the sea on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred west of the Rauma lighthouse.

Reports indicate that the logs are being carried by currents and winds as far as the estuary of the Eurajoki river. The weather forecast predicts southwest winds of up to 16 meters per second in the region. The floating timber is expected to drift towards the archipelago of Luvia.

The Coast Guard urges all water users in the area to reduce their speed and increase their vigilance to prevent accidents.
