Activists inspire change through solidarity and advocacy in the Faroe Islands

Thursday 17th October 2024 on 10:18 in Faroe Islands Faroe Islands

Why do some people dedicate time and energy to political issues that have no direct impact on them, and when does activism make a difference?

Today on Breddan, we speak with individuals who have spent a significant portion of their time advocating for causes, even when it sometimes feels hopeless to effect any change.

We talk with Elisa Vang, who every Monday evening joins 20 to 30 like-minded individuals in solidarity with Palestine.

We also hear from Eilar Fagraklett, one of the founders of the LGBT+ movement in the Faroe Islands, and Ruth Norgerð, former chairwoman of Provita.

These are organizations that have, in their own ways, actively worked towards promoting value-based policies within Faroese society.
