One of the major attractions for commerce in the pedestrian street of Nykøbing Mors is facing financial strain this year. The annual Halloween parade, which draws thousands to the town every year, has proven more challenging to organize than usual. Last year’s event saw around 80 participants, while this year, organizers expect to see 100. They anticipate an audience of 2,500 to 3,000 people along the approximately 500-meter street, which is home to around 20,000 residents on the island, with about half living in Nykøbing.

The local Limfjord Theatre is no longer the primary organizer of the parade due to funding issues. The local business association has struggled to meet the financial demands required to host the event. Nonetheless, the Halloween parade is significant for both the town and the island. It has grown in popularity, attracting many visitors from neighboring cities.

To ensure the event’s success, the business association is actively seeking volunteers. The participation of local schools is also confirmed, with the Højskolen Mors sending 30 students to contribute to the festivities. They will present a variety of costumes, including both monsters and unique creatures, and they have borrowed costumes from the Limfjord Theatre.

Festivities will kick off before nightfall, with face painting and Halloween hair styling available for both children and adults. Volunteers have elevated expectations for this year’s parade, hoping to introduce exciting decorations and insights into the event. The parade begins at 7 PM tonight.
